Laramie, WY – This holiday weekend, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department says it will be strictly enforcing the law against operating a motor boat under the influence.
Robin Kepple is a spokeswoman for the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. She says it's important to appoint a designated driver when boating.
"Because a license is not required to operate a boat, people tend to think of it as a party pad," Kepple said.
"What we have to think about is, who is going to be operating that boat if everyone on board is consuming alcohol," she added.
Game and Fish is also reminding people that a new law went into effect this year that requires any child 12 years and under to wear a life jacket while boating. Kepple says the Fourth of July weekend is one of Wyoming's busiest boating weekends of the year.
