Laramie, WY – The Republican Governors Association issued a statement today saying Wyoming is now a prime pick-up opportunity for the Republican Party. The state chairman of the G-O-P, Diana Vaughan, however, came up short of saying Freudenthal's decision increases the likelihood that a Republican will win the governor's office.
"We were charging ahead whether he was running or not we had great candidates to run against him and now I'm just very optimistic that we're going to end up on top on this one."
Vaughan says while the G-O-P may have had its disagreements with Freudenthal, it is important to thank the governor and his wife for their service to the state over the last seven years. Republican U-S Senator Mike Enzi also thanked Freudenthal for his service today... saying the Governor's fiscal conservatism and his belief in the power of the legislature have resulted in good things getting done.
