Cheyenne, Wyo. – The governor says he continues to oppose the state acquisition of new pipelines to increase the price of natural gas exported from Wyoming.
Dave Freudenthal says he's skeptical that the constitution would allow such a deal. He says the government should not interfere with the private market.
Freudenthal said the larger issue surrounding the depressed price of natural gas in Wyoming is access to the resource rather than state involvement in the pipeline business or incentives like severance tax credits for producers.
He gave his opinion in a letter to the Legislature's joint Minerals, Business and Economic Development Interim Committee.
