Cheyenne, Wy – Governor Freudenthal has announced his opposition to new rules for protesting oil and natural gas lease sales on federal lands in Wyoming.
He says the rules could inhibit the public's chance to comment.
The U-S Bureau of Land Management plans to reduce the time
allowed for the public to review and protest upcoming leases,
beginning next month.
Freudenthal is asking that the current 45-day window be maintained.
He says he understands the problems the B-L-M faces with last-minute protests, but he says the public shouldn't be
short-changed in its ability to research and comment on lease sales.
