Laramie, Wy – A proposed constitutional amendment that takes money from mineral rich school districts continues to lose supporters. Several education officials now say they no longer support Constitutional Amendment B, mostly because the money does not have to be spent on education. Others believe the amendment addresses a Supreme Court ruling that all districts should be funded equally. But during a discussion with Governor Dave Freudenthal on the ballot propositions he refused to take a position on Amendment B even when asked if passage was important to resolving the school finance lawsuit.
Freudenthal admits it might be interesting to see what the Wyoming Supreme Court does if voters do not support the Constitutional Amendment.
