Laramie, Wy – Wyoming farmers are helping create an alternative to foreign oil. Some crops are being used in biodiesel. It is made from vegetable oil and can run in any diesel engine.
Blue Sun Biodiesel, based in Colorado distributes a blend that is made of 20 percent biodiesel. The director of the company, John Long, says it is available in Colorado and New Mexico, but they want to open pumps in Wyoming.
Overall, Long says they hope to have the 20 percent mix available at about 60 locations in about half a year. He says that effort will get help because of a new law that reduces the price of biodiesel and makes it competitive with normal diesel.
