Greybull, WY – A group of residents in Greybull is fighting against a proposed ethanol plant. Motel owner Michael Lannon is part of the group collecting signatures for a petition against the plant. It would limit the amount of coal the facility could burn within city limits. Lannon says his business will be harmed by the pollution and foul odor emitted during the production of ethanol.
Big Horn Basin Ethanol President Tom Johnson says the company hasn't yet committed to burning coal to produce ethanol. He says if it does the company will comply with all regulations set forth by the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality.
