Laramie, Wy – The Game and Fish Department has formally proposed some changes to the grizzly bear management plan. The changes deal with establishing areas considered suitable for grizzly bears in Wyoming. The proposal comes after four months of public comments. The Game and Fish's John Emmerich says about 30 percent of those comments came from Wyomingites. The majority of those supported limiting where grizzly bears live, while the majority of the comments from out of state were in favor of allowing grizzly bears to expand their habitat. Emmerich says they are trying to balance both of those desires and make a plan that keeps bears off the endangered species list in the future.
Emmerich says they are working with the federal government on this plan and it is supportive of the proposed changes.
