Grizzly Bears Have Plenty of Food This Fall

Laramie, Wy – The number of conflicts between grizzly bears and people is down this year. The leader of the Interagency Grizzly Bear Study Team, Chuck Schwartz, says a good crop of whitebark pine cones this fall is drawing grizzly bears to higher elevations keeping them away from subdivisions and other human developments.
The Interagency Grizzly Bear Study Team reports whitebark pine cones make up 60 to 70 percent of the bears' diet. Schwartz, says next year there should be more cubs born because of the pine cones.
