Heavy Rains No Help for Drought

Gillette, WY – Despite last week's heavy rains that
caused flooding of creeks, streams and basements in parts of Wyoming, the drought still persists. State climatologist Steve Gray says while the short-term situation has turned around the long-term effects of the drought remain. He noted below-average snow pack, aquifers and reservoirs have not disappeared. Gray says it'll take steady rain and snow through next spring for the long-term effects of the eight-year drought to begin to work themselves out.
