Cheyenne, Wy – Reaction to the Governor's proposed budget is mostly positive. The Governor presented his budget to the Joint Appropriations committee Monday and made a pitch for several million dollars in one time projects, with another eye on establishing a savings account. However, the state is going to need to put several million more dollars into the department of health. The growth of that budget concerns the Governor and several committee members as well. But Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman John Schiffer says they are trying to get a handle on the increased costs.
The committee also asked several questions about a proposal to put more money into teacher salaries. The committee is hearing budget requests this week and will vote on those requests on Friday.
