Cheyenne, WY – The legislature's House Revenue committee has voted down a pair of tax relief proposals endorsed by Governor Dave Freudenthal, but it sent four other tax relief measures to the house floor.
The bills they support include a constitutional amendment that could allow the regulation of residential property tax rates, along with some other flexible relief measures.
But the Governor's bill, which targeted support for seniors, did not get support.
Gillette Republican Tom Lubnau says he voted against the bills because some in need were left out.
While supporting some of the bills, Lubnau admits that lawmakers need to be cautious with the type of relief that eventually gets approved, otherwise they may need to raise other taxes in the future.
The full house will debate the remaining bills next week.
