Laramie, Wy – The Wyoming Libertarian Party is no longer classified as a major party in the state. To attain that status a party has to receive at least ten percent of the vote in a major race. The Libertarians did this in 2000 and 2002, but not in 2004.
This year Libertarian candidate for U-S House Thom Rankin says not having the major party status makes it harder to raise money. He says this means he is running a low profile campaign and will depend on word of mouth to get his message out.
Rankin has multiple sclerosis and says he's using his disability income to fund his campaign.
There are other Libertarians running, two for state House and another for Secretary of State.
