Denver, CO – For the first time, chronic wasting disease has been found in moose. Colorado wildlife officials say a bull moose killed by an archer this month tested positive for the brain-wasting disease that had been found only in deer and elk until now. Colorado made CWD testing in moose mandatory in Colorado in 2003. Nearly 300 moose have been tested since then without a positive result. The Colorado Division of Wildlife says C-W-D is likely to be a rare occurrence in moose because of their social habits.
