Douglas, Wy – Members of the legislatures transportation committee will once again try and get more Highway Patrol Troopers on the states highways. The issue failed during last years legislative session, but supporters hope that it will gain more support during the upcoming budget session. House Transportation Chairman Dave Edwards of Douglas says the committee will ask that 20 more troopers be placed on Wyoming Highways. Edwards says studies show that 120 troopers are actually needed.
Edwards admits that in the house they will have an uphill fight. Among those who opposed increasing Trooper numbers last year, was House Speaker Randall Luthi.
