Laramie, WY – The state's consumer advocate says deflated prices and an excess supply of natural gas in Wyoming probably won't affect your heating bill this winter. Bryce Freeman says it will take a severe disruption in the nation's supply of natural gas before people notice any change.
Freeman says utilities usually secure the price for retail gas far ahead of time. He says wholesale gas prices are more likely to be affected by current conditions. The price of natural gas in Wyoming is 30 percent lower than the national average because of mild weather and a record-level supply.
