New Regulations to Control Chronic Wasting Disease

Laramie, Wy – October first marks the first day of hunting for most of the state. With it comes a new regulation for hunters of deer and elk. They must now dispose of carcasses in an approved landfill or leave the head and spinal chord at the site of the kill. The Deputy Director of the Game and Fish Department, Gregg Arthur, says this is to try and prevent the spread of Chronic Wasting Disease. He adds the regulation only applies for animals shot in an area known to have C-W-D. Arthur says it is a misdemeanor to disobey this new regulation.
