Washington D-C – Leaders of Wyoming's Northern Arapaho Tribe are seeking $1.5 million for a new youth recreation center as they
reach out to the state's congressional delegation this week.
The tribal leaders traveled to Washington to plead for more
federal dollars after the recent deaths of three teenage girls on
the Wind River Indian Reservation.
They said Wednesday that the center would give children who
often turn to drugs and alcohol a place to gather.
Federal investigators say they're waiting for autopsy results to
determine what killed the three teenage girls found dead June 4 at
the Beaver Creek tribal housing area south of Riverton.
The tribe has identified the three as 13-year-old Elyxis
Gardener, 14-year-old Alex Whiteplume and 15-year-old Winter Rose
