Cheyenne, WY – The outgoing Director of Workforce Services says one of her top accomplishments was creating training opportunities for single mothers and for people coming off of welfare. Kathy Emmons says that many of those people were able to double or triple their income. She says when her department first floated the idea of filling workforce shortages in construction and the heavy equipment industries with people coming off of welfare people were skeptical. But they soon found that such workers were quite beneficial to those industries. Emmons says she's excited about the people who have been able to support themselves by going through the training program.
