laramie, wy – The U-S department of commerce has released statistics on the rate of growth in personal income, and for most of the nation, the department says the picture is rosy. The report ranks Wyoming sixth in the nation in terms of the fastest rise in personal income, just behind Nebraska, Kansas, and North Dakota. But Wyoming labor market research director Tom Gallagher says the report obscures the reality for the state. Gallagher says that most of the state's growth in personal income is concentrated in the energy and construction sectors, and that more men than women are bringing home the fatter paychecks. Gallagher also says the state's population is shifting rapidly, and that could further skew the picture of who's doing well and who's not.
