LARAMIE, wyo – Noted Scientist, theorist and author E. O. Wilson says that getting people to work together to address serious issues is difficult because people hide behind their beliefs instead of working together to solve problems. Wilson visited the University of Wyoming campus today. (Thursday) He says many times disagreements over controversial issues stem from the fact that people want to run from challenges
"The great problems of foreign policy, of energy, of conservation, of full employment and so on are not problems of ideology or the wrong ideology," says Wilson. "It's just that the problems have become so complex."
Wilson says that something must be done to get congress and other groups to work together to solve problems. That is why he has appealed to religious groups to work with scientists to address environmental issues. Wilson was named as one of the top 25 most influential Americans by Time Magazine.
