Cheyenne, WY – State Senators have given final approval to a bill that removes power from the Environmental Quality Council. Agriculture and energy groups objected to some recent decisions by the E-Q-C that declared public property Very Rare and Uncommon areas. The bill says that the the top five elected officials must sign off on these designation.
Casper Senator Kit Jennings says property can still be protected, but landowners now have a say in the process.
Supporters of the bill feared that such designation would inhibit their ability to use their private property in any way they see fit.
