Cheyenne, Wy – The Wyoming Department of Health is
warning Medicaid clients in the state to be alert for fraudulent telephone calls.
The department says that clients of its EqualityCare program,
which is part of Medicaid, need to protect themselves against being
victims of fraud.
The department says that it's heard reports of a scam in which
callers will promise clients that they will receive lifetime
benefits for a fee, or that they need to give out their bank
account information to receive a new Medicaid card.
Teri Green is manager of EqualityCare and a state Medicaid
agent. Green says that it's EqualityCare's policy never to call and
ask people for their personal information, including bank account
numbers or cash payments.
