Rock Springs, Wy – The Rock Springs City Council is moving ahead with a proposed ordinance to ban the use of cell phones while driving. The ordinance cleared initial approval Tuesday. Two more readings are needed to enact the ordinance.
The ordinance would apply when drivers use cell phones for
talking, text massaging or taking photos.
Exceptions include police and ambulance drivers in the line of
duty - or when people use a device allowing them to talk while
keeping both hands on the wheel.
Violators could be punished by a fine of up to $750 and six
months in jail.
