Cheyenne, WY – The President of the Wyoming Senate says the legislature will likely have to put more money into the Hathaway Scholarship.
Lawmakers originally thought that 400 million dollars would be enough money to provide scholarships to qualified students. But Senator John Schiffer says the return on the state investment has been less then they had hoped, because of the economy.
Meanwhile, lawmakers are making it easier for students to maintain their scholarship. For those reasons, Schiffer says the legislature needs to look closely at the program.
Schiffer says it might need another 200 million dollars to make sure it is properly funded.
