Simpson Wants New Database

Cody, Wy – A state lawmaker says Wyoming ought to have a statewide database of residents' prescriptions.
The goal would be to prevent drug abusers from getting multiple
prescriptions.
Rep. Colin Simpson said he's not sure yet how a bill might be
written to set up such a system. But he said the idea is to prevent
people going to multiple doctors for multiple painkiller
prescriptions to be filled at multiple pharmacies.
The State Board of Pharmacy currently requires pharmacies to
report all controlled substance prescriptions electronically once a
month. The month-long intervals provide lag time that people can
exploit if they want to fill multiple prescriptions.
