Encampment, Wy – A State Representative disagrees with those who want to delay logging in the medicine bow national forest. Encampment Representative Jeb Steward says that logging would actually help address problems with Pine Beetles destroying trees. The Biodiversity conservation alliance has asked the forest service to begin a new study of its timber removal plan in the Medicine Bow. They argue that timbering would remove needed cover for certain types of animals. But Steward says that he believes this is just another attempt to try and stop logging in the forest. He says logging would help trees die at differnt ages. Otherise, Steward says more trees that are the same age would die out. Steward also says that the forest has studied the issue enough.
