Laramie, WY – Since 2003, more than 120 workers have died on the job in Wyoming a figure that Department of Employment Director Cindy Pomeroy calls a black eye on the state.
Pomeroy says Wyoming consistently ranks per capita among the worst for workplace safety in the US. She says physically demanding energy-industry jobs are partly to blame, especially on the open roads. More than half of those deaths occurred in a vehicle.
Pomeroy says her department is making its first significant campaign to limit workplace deaths by opening talks with industry and transportation leaders.
