Teenager Convicted Of One Count Of Murder

Gillette, Wy – A Campbell County man was convicted
tonight (Friday) of one count of murder and two counts of
conspiracy in the deaths of two teenagers last fall.
The jury convicted 19-year-old Christopher Robert Hicks of
murder and conspiracy in the death of 16-year-old Bryce Chavers and
of conspiracy in the death of 19-year-old Jeremy Forquer. Hicks faces the death penalty. A sentencing hearing is set for
Wednesday.
Chavers was shot in the head in November, and Forquer was
strangled to death in October.
Authorities say Kent Proffit Senior ordered Chavers killed to
prevent the teen from testifying against him in a sexual assault
case. Proffit also faces charges in connection with the deaths of
both teens.
A third man has pleaded guilty to murder and conspiracy in both
cases, and a 15-year-old has reached a plea agreement with
prosecutors.
