Laramie, WY – Wyoming Senator Craig Thomas says he will undergo another round of chemotherapy to treat his leukemia. The 74-year-old Republican is Wyoming's senior senator. He was diagnosed with the disease last November, just days before his re-election to a third term in the Senate.
Thomas underwent treatment last year at the Bethesda National Naval Medical Center. He then returned to work in December, a month earlier than expected.
In a statement today, Thomas says he's resolved to do all he can to keep his leukemia in check. Thomas says he's been feeling well over the last couple of months and has even returned to taking his regular morning run. But he says that he's known that further treatments for leukemia are common and could periodically be necessary. Thomas says he plans to continue to working in the Senate while he undergoes the second round of treatment.
