Town to Take Over School

Bairoil, WY – Carbon County school officials have agreed to turn ownership of the Bairoil School over to the town of Bairoil. The building will serve as the town's community center and a portion of it will be leased back to the school district for classroom space. The Bairoil School has faced dwindling enrollment and high maintenance costs. Next fall, just five students are expected to attend a school that was built for 80. Under a long-standing agreement, Carbon County District One runs the Bairoil School, even though the town of 97 is in Sweetwater County.
