Laramie, WY – Basin Electric broke ground on its long awaited Dry Fork Power plant Friday. The plant has come under scrutiny from environmental groups who have asked the state environmental Quality Council to make sure the plant is using the best technology possible to reduce harm to the environment. They say the plant is dirtier then facilities in other states. Basin Electric Spokesman Floyd Robb disputes the claim. Robb says the plant has been studied for years and notes that it did pass the scrutiny of the Environmental Quality Council. He says it will create several jobs and provide cheaper energy for its customers.
