UW Finds West Nile Breeding Ground

Laramie, WY – University of Wyoming researchers have been able to pinpoint the breeding places of West Nile-carrying mosquitoes in Goshen County. As a result, the county can better combat the pests and the disease. In 2003, Goshen County was one of the nation's hot-spots for human West Nile cases on a per capita basis. There were 89 documented cases, including three deaths. The UW team found that the mosquitoes that transmit West Nile were bred north of Torrington.
