Laramie, WY – According to the audit the deficit is about 360 thousand dollars, which is due to unpaid bills by insurance companies and patients. The audit found the residency program has struggled to keep up with its accounts. Especially over the last five years when the patient load tripled and the office staff hasn't grown at all. The spokeswoman for U-W, Jessica Lowell, says they have hired an outside agency to try and collect the unpaid bills.
"We're certainly working to collect all of that we can and we won't know until we've completed that process how much we are able to recoup," says Lowell.
The audit did note that U-W and the residency program have taken several corrective actions to prevent this kind of deficit from building up again.
