CHEYENNE, wyo – The University of Wyoming says it needs $6 million more in state funding to help cover increased health care costs and fees will also be raised to foot the bill.
That could include fees for residence and dining halls, parking and the campus bookstore.
The university says the extra funding is needed because claims have more than tripled in the past 10 years.
The university and employees will begin paying increased premiums starting in December.
The $6 million increase will only move ahead if Gov. Dave Freudenthal recommends it in his supplemental budget proposal on Dec. 1. If he does, lawmakers would also have to approve it.
