Laramie, Wyo. – A political analyst says that yesterday's endorsement of Congressional hopeful Mark Gordon by former US Senator Malcolm Wallop will provide a significant lift for the candidate.
Laramie County Community College political scientist, David Marcum, says the former senator's support will give Gordon some added name recognition as the primary season draws near.
"When you have someone like Malcolm Wallop, whose name carries weight here in the state, come out and support Mark Gordon, that could be very important for building his credibility that he will need if he has any chance of winning the primary," he said.
Wallop served in Washington from 1976 to 1994. He said Gordon had chosen the most practical positions on issues ranging from global warming to oil shale development.
