Wildfires Continue To Burn

Hartville, Wy – Another new wildfire in Wyoming is moving
fast.
Officials say the new fire is in Platte County, north of the
community of Hartville. The fire is said to be intense and moving
quickly.
The latest estimate was the fire had burned about six-thousand
acres as of this morning (Friday).
The fire is burning on both sides of Wyoming 270, and a 35-mile
section of the highway has been closed.
Winds were pushing the fire away from Hartville and part of it
was heading toward an area burned out by a fire that occurred
earlier this summer on the Wyoming National Guard's Camp Guernsey
training area.
The main concern is if winds shift and push the fire toward
Hartville. The Platte County Sheriff's Office has advised resident
of Hartville to voluntarily leave.
However, forecasts called for the wind to continue pushing the
fire north.
Elsewhere in Wyoming, a fire burning in the Shoshone National
Forest about 30 miles west of Meeteetse was about 30 percent
contained. It has burned some 27-thousand acres of mostly insect
killed trees.
