Wind energy bills signed into law

Cheyenne, WY – Governor Freudenthal has signed into law legislation that lawmakers say will help guide wind development into the future. Senate Majority Floor Leader Jim Anderson of Douglas says this legislation is critical to the state's economic future. He adds that wind development must be done on Wyoming's terms.
"Take into account the wildlife, open spaces, vistas and views. And still be able to capture an industry that can offer some relief to our ag community who are just hanging on by their finger nails. Ranches that have been in their family for hundreds of years. And the only way they can save them is through the marketing of wind."
Anderson says issues like eminent domain and the proper taxing of wind will be the focus of summer legislative work.
