Laramie, Wy – Northern Arapaho officials have broken ground on a new casino, one that they hope will someday offer Las Vegas-style
A groundbreaking ceremony was held last Friday at the site of
the complex two miles south of Riverton.
Burton Hutchinson is chairman of the Northern Arapaho Business
He told a crowd of about 70 people that the casino will help the
Arapaho people through economic development, and he says he's
grateful the operation is about to become reality.
The ten-million dollar, 30-thousand-square-foot casino will
sit along a bluff overlooking the Little Wind River.
The casino is expected to open by September 2005. A 100-room
hotel may be built two years later.
Whether the casino will be allowed to offer Vegas-style gaming
is being debated by the U-S Department of the Interior.
The federal agency took over the matter after the tribe and the
state of Wyoming could not agree on a compact.
