WORLD CAFE Returns to Wyoming Public Radio
Laramie – Wyoming Public Radio is pleased to announce that World Cafe, a two-hour program of alternative contemporary music from Public Radio International will air on Sundays from 11 am to 1 pm. World Cafe will begin airing Sunday, December 5, 2004 and will replace Weekend Music with Tillie Whitt.
"Tillie is relocating out of Wyoming and we are all sorry to say goodbye. At the same time we are happy to be able to bring back World Cafe," says Program Director Roger Adams. "Its focus on alternative contemporary music will add an important new depth to our already strong music offerings.
"It not only lets us give our audience a fresh new sound, but it also provides listeners with intelligent commentary on work that is several steps ahead of the main stream. World Cafe will appeal to those who appreciate music that's adventurous. It's bound to be a destination broadcast for music lovers in Wyoming," Adams adds.
World Cafe is a cutting-edge, two-hour show that features alternative contemporary music. It offers a broad range of innovative sounds, including contemporary American and international artists.
Host David Dye presents music that is familiar but also showcases works by new and emerging artists. A typical hour of World Cafe contains in-studio artist performances, music-intensive features, and interviews. Its music ranges from rock, reggae and American and English folk to Brazilian pop and rock 'n' roll.
World Cafe is produced at WXPN in Philadelphia and is distributed nationally by Public Radio International.
