Laramie, WY – The Wyoming Department of Corrections has issued a report on the number of inmate assaults in the state's prisons. It says that during the last two years just 140 assaults took place. More than a third of those didn't involve physical violence, just threats or verbal abuse. Investigators found that only 12 of the assaults were planned. And Director of Corrections Bob Lampert says few involved weapons or sexual assault. In other states violence in prisons is increasing because of gangs. That is apparently not a problem in Wyoming yet.
