WyDOT Improves I-80

Laramie, Wy – A three-point-seven million dollar
project to make Interstate 80 safer for motorists has added ten electronic message signs, three live-view cameras and additional lightning at some exits between Cheyenne and Laramie.
The lighting and cameras are so good that WyDOT dispatchers can see subtle differences in road conditions.
The three new cameras cover most of the area between the Lincoln Monument and Buford -- where a lot of blowing snow tends to occur.
The new camera views will not be posted on the agency's Web site, but dispatchers will use them to update the site's road
report.
While WyDOT officials say the improvements will make the road
much safer and reliable to travel on, they say it's still up to
drivers to slow down when conditions warrant.
