Laramie, Wy – The percentage of Wyoming's highways rated as good or excellent by the transportation department is the lowest ever. This year only 49 percent of roads are rated at the top levels.
At the same time WyDOT is also delaying projects to repair roads. Casper District Engineer Jack Bell says that's because the cost of building highways is going up. Most of the money for roads comes from the federal government, though the state is helping a bit.
This lack of money means in the Casper district alone they are delaying completion of 30 projects.
