Laramie, Wy – Several Wyoming conservation groups are calling for the Powder River to be listed as endangered. The proposed dam on the middle fork of the River has raised the attention of several groups, including the Wyoming Outdoor Council. Woc's Steve Jones says the Powder River is one of the few non-dammed rivers, and this coupled with coalbed methane discharge, has them very concerned about what it might do to fish and the river in general. Jones says the request to list the river is made to the group American Rivers who tracks the status of rivers across the country. Jones hopes the attention that a group like American Rivers can give to the Power River can be helpful.
