Laramie, Wy – 19 percent of Wyoming employers say they are going to hire workers during the first quarter of the year. It's the second highest number in the nation. The information comes from a survey by Manpower, which is an employer services company. Spokesman Keith Markham says their survey doesn't show how many people they will hire, but he says the people of Wyoming should take this as a good sign.
"I think they should be excited about the opportunities. The fact that Wyoming fell second as far as the net employment outlook is concerned for all 50 states plus Puerto Rico should give some good insight about what the employers here are thinking."
This survey showed that the industries planning to do the most hiring are manufacturing, energy and tourism. Eight percent of employers reported that they would fire workers during the coming quarter with construction being one of the hardest hit industries.
