Casper, Wy – A longtime Casper educator says Wyoming still has a long ways to go in its efforts to be more diverse. School administrator Mel Hamilton says he has encountered some racial opposition since he was elevated in the district. Hamilton says blacks are fine, until they strat to advance.
Hamilton says since there are smaller numbers of blacks, they have not experienced the types of racism that he believes native Americans and Hispanics have encountered. He says until different races are properly recognized, he does not think much improvement will be made. Hamilton appeared on last nights Wyoming Conversation on W-P-R. The topic will be furthered discussed in several communities tonight at seven.
