Jackson, Wyoming – A plan to drill natural gas wells around a
subdivision at the base of the Wyoming Range is still moving
forward with an environmental study.
Steven Rusch of Houston-based Plains Exploration and Production
says his company is working with the Bridger-Teton National Forest
to complete the study.
A draft environmental impact statement should be ready for
public comment in the spring, with a final decision expected in the
spring of 2009.
Plains Exploration has a controlling interest in about 16,000
acres in the foothills of the Wyoming Range that runs through the
Hoback Ranches subdivision. Those lease rights are pre-existing and
are not part of the 44,600 acres of leasing currently under
suspension in other areas of the same mountains.
